Chinese manufacturers seem to replicate the latest gears and gadgets brought to us by reliable brands. Same is the case with Pioneer A622 Car Stereo. As far as our concerns go, Pioneer, the real manufacturer doesn’t have any Car Stereo named A622. This is a China-made Car Stereo. But being China made doesn’t necessarily mean that a product is worthless. Let’s see what Chinese Pioneer A622 has to offer.
Pioneer A622 Mechless head unit comes with remote control, a built-in USB port, and an SD card reader. Pioneer A622 does not have a CD player.
What is in the box?
The box contains the A622 audio player, a user-manual in Mandarin, radio, speaker connector, and brackets.
Design and features
Pioneer A622 car stereo comes in black color. It has a nice looking face, which is non-removable. It has a USB 2.0 port and an SD/MMC card slot on its left bottom corner. The buttons located above the ports make navigation easy when browsing a large number of songs (say 1000) in your pen drive or SD/MMC card.
A622 has play/pause, RPT (repeat), INT (initialize or start from a particular song), RDM (shuffle), 10+ (forward 10 songs at a time), 10- (reward 10 songs at a time) buttons. It has the round knob for volume control, and the forward, reward, CLK (remaining track duration display), MODE (for switching between USB or SD/MMC and Radio), BAND (for switching between different radio bands FM1 to FM2 to FM3 to AM1 to AM2), and EQ (for preset equalizer selection) buttons located on the middle of the face.
Pioneer A622 Car Stereo features a big and attractive display. It displays the track name, duration, and Bars visualization. Once you start the car, the display gets to standby mode and shows the current time. You can use the remote control power button or push the volume knob to start playing audio or to turn it off.
Pioneer A622 will automatically detect if a pen drive or SD/MMC card is inserted, in which case, it will resume playing songs from where you left the last time. It will play radio if no pen drive or SD/MMC card is detected.
The infrared sensor is located right to the display. Overall, Pioneer A622 has a nice clean design with effective controlling options. Most importantly, Pioneer A622 is a universal car audio player, which means, it will fit in the head unit of any car.
Performance
According to the features illustrated on the box of Pioneer A622, it is capable of delivering 45 watts power to one speaker, the highest number of speakers allowed is 4. We highly doubt that. Though the sound quality is decent, the volume is not loud enough to endorse the 45W X 4 claim.
The volume control has the range from 0 to 30. It does not get audible unless you turn the volume to level 10. The base it delivers is poor. A622’s preset equalizer settings do not add much value to the quality of the sound it produces.
On the bright side, the remote control works nicely from angles. And the track controlling buttons makes navigation easy for a large number of songs. You can jump to a song pressing numbers on A622’s remote control. However, this feature will not work if you have more than 999 songs in your pen drive. You can expect A622 to last a couple of years.
Pros | Cons |
Affordable USB/SD mode car audio player and radio tuner with controls for easier navigation for | Poor bass and not so loud. No AUX 3.5-mm input port in front. |
Conclusion
Pioneer A622 Car Stereo’s music output was of decent quality with satisfactory bass and treble. It is not loud enough. However, it is available for half the price of any branded mechless. If you will be listening to jazz, country, or pop songs you can give it a try.
